How to Maximize the Life of Your Conditioner Bar

One Earth Conditioner Bars last a very long time. Still, once you get towards the end of the bar, the small pieces can be tricky to handle. Here, we provide some tips to help you get the most mileage out of your bars. Read on for suggestions to maximize the life of your conditioner bars!

First, Let it Drain!

Always keep your conditioner bars (and shampoo bars) out of standing water. This will maximize their life span. You can keep them on a bamboo draining dish, a slotted shower caddy, a loofa, or other platform that raises them up above any surface that could collect water.

When it's Small, Melt it Down!

A simple way to use small pieces of conditioner bars is to collect them in a jar until you have enough pieces to form a larger bar. Put the pieces in a microwave-safe dish and melt them on high power for a few seconds. Then pour the liquid into a small silicone mold and allow it to cool and harden. You now have a new conditioner bar! You can often find silicone molds at thrift stores, and they're available in craft stores and of course on line.

Liquefy It

Another simple solution for small pieces of conditioner bars is to add liquid and use the resulting mixture like standard liquid conditioner. To do this, put a small piece of conditioner bar in a glass jar and add a couple ounces of hot (just boiled) water. Stir occasionally and leave the mixture to melt. The result will be a creamy conditioner you can use just as you would a liquid product. We don't use preservatives in our solid bars, so try to use this mixture up within a week or so, or keep it in the fridge between uses to help prevent spoilage. You can also use One Earth conditioner as a body moisturizer. Feel free to rub some of the liquid conditioner (or the bar) on your skin for extra hydration or for shaving!
