Our mission at One Earth Body Care is to provide fabulous body care products made with respect for the Earth, and to reduce plastic & other toxins in everyday life. Our vision is to bring Earth care into Body care and beyond, and to catalyze stewardship of self, community and planet. We're committed to:

THE PLASTIC PROBLEM
Plastics are made from fossil fuels combined with toxic chemicals through intensive processing. Plastic production is a major driver of climate change and toxic pollution. While some plastics serve a useful purpose, the use of plastic for disposable and convenience products imperils all life on Earth. Microplastics are in our bodies, from our blood and lung tissue to developing fetuses. They're in the oceans, the soil and in the air; we need to sharply scale back the global production and careless use of plastics.
RECYCLING IS NOT THE ANSWER
Globally, only about 9% of plastic is recycled; the rest is landfilled, burned or "mismanaged," ending up in rivers, oceans, fields and roadsides. Many types of plastic aren't designed to be recycled. Even those that are require virgin material to be added, and the recycling process is toxic because of the harmful chemicals contained in the plastic. On top of this, because our current economic system doesn't do true cost accounting, it is less expensive to create new plastic than to recycle.
WE MUST BE THE CHANGE
Large corporations and governments have a poor track record around prioritizing the long-term wellbeing of people and planet. We believe that caring communities and companies must build healthy alternatives to help catalyze needed change. None of us can do it all but we can each tackle some part of the many problems demanding to be solved. Together, our united efforts make a difference that those who come after us can continue to build on. At One Earth Body Care, we develop hair and skin-care products with healthy ingredients and ethical packaging. Every shampoo bar and conditioner bar saves the plastic equivalent of 24 liquid ounces. Our herbal balms and deodorants nourish the skin and senses, and when they're used up the package nourishes the soil.
Our mission includes sharing knowledge about ecological challenges and ways we can each be part of the solution. We do this through our blog, newsletter and other outreach efforts.
